Description
Released to much acclaim in 2005, Sit Down and Sing is Roy’s current CD. This was the CD that nearly wasn’t! Roy had vowed he had stopped recording, but luckily for us, he relented. We look forward to his next offering. With Martin Simpson and John Kirkpatrick
Roy Bailey has been a pillar of the folk scene for the last 40 years, performing all over the world. Roy is primarily an interpreter of other songwriters work, and the songs he chooses to perform echo the struggles and victories of working people throughout the ages.
In 2003 Roy and Tony Benn were jointly awarded the Best Live Act at the Radio 2 Folk Music Awards for their Writing on the Wall concerts, and amongst his many admirers are Billy Bragg and the great Utah Phillips.
In 2006 Roy returned the MBE he had been awarded (for his services to folk music) in protest at the war mongering policies of new labour in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and the Lebanon. Respect. www.roybailey.net
