Description
Hank Williams needs no introduction. The first superstar of country music, he recorded over 160 songs many of which have become classics, before his tragically early death at just 30 years of age.
Very few people are able to make, and leave, such a huge impression in such a short time.
This cd is called Alone And Forsaken, which seems to sum up his troubled life. After an introductory track by Matthew Johnson of The The (which frankly dosn't work) many of the songs featured dwell on the darker side of Hank's songwriting, and includes Cold, Cold Heart and Lost Highway. An excellent cd and a great tribute to a great musician.
While there's very little glamour in an early death, it is reputed that when Hank Williams died he had clasped in his fist a hand written note which read “We met, we lived and dear we loved, then comes that fatal day, the love that felt so dear fades far away.” Sad words indeed.
