Socialist Labour Party Public Meeting, Wrexham June 7th.
We are very honoured to be hosting a public meeting with the main speaker being Ana Lucia Pinzon, a trade union leader from Columbia. Ana is in the UK on a speaker tour orgainised by the Justice For Columbia Group.
Ana Lucia Pinzon is the leader of the Colombian public sector workers’ trade union FENALTRASE. She is the most senior female trade unionist in Colombia and has been at the forefront of anti-privatisation struggles for thirty years. FENALTRASE is the third largest union in Colombia and has had numerous of its members assassinated in recent years.
An economist by training, Ms Pinzon worked as an auditor before becoming a fulltime union officer. As well as her union work she is also active in human rights campaigns. In 2001 she was the victim of an assassination attempt during which she was shot twice in the back.
The meeting will be held at the War Memorial Hall in Wrexham, on Saturday June 7th, starting at 2.30pm.
Other speakers have been invited and will be confirmed later.
