Description
An excellent pairing of Melanie Safka’s third album Candle In The Rain with Leftover Wine, a live recording from Carnegie Hall which has become something of a landmark concert.
First released over 30 years ago both albums still sound fresh and relevant today, which is as it should be as Melanie is still recording and touring.
So many good tracks on both cds but Melanie’s version of Ruby Tuesday remains in our view a classic and her version of Lindisfarne’s Dream Seller is a surprising choice but one which works really well. And if some of the between song chat on Leftover Wine sounds a bit ‘hippy’, well this was America in 1970.
With both cds containing extra bonus tracks from their original form, and extensive sleeves notes, this is really good buy and well worth a listen.
