Description
Debut release from a new band, The Malkies, featuring our good friend Alistair Hulett.
Suited And Booted is a glorious mixture of folk, roots and country, that grew out of a great love and appreciation of American traditional music. Songs old and new, some written by Alistair, some covers from Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger and some new arrangements of traditional songs all feature. A blend of American roots music played with Anglo/Scottish influences. Pictish Blues as Alistair describes it!
Where else could you hear a song called Are There Honky Tonks In Heaven and a new version of The Internationale on the same record!
It all comes together very well with the vocals of Rachel Goodwin and the mandolin and lap steel guitar work of Phil Snell making this an album that stands out.
New kids on the block The Malkies aren’t, they’ve all been around awhile, which shows from the effortless way they blend their musical skills and influences into this very fine album.
